Arc Raiders 1.20.0 Patch Notes: Il Toro Gets Nerfed and Energy Clip Prices Gutted

Arc Raiders Patch 1.20.0 II Toro Shotgun

Arc Raiders update 1.20.0 went live on March 17, 2026, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S. Restart your game to get it. The update is not a massive one in terms of length, but almost every player will feel the two balance changes inside it.

The Il Toro, which has been a community complaint for weeks, finally got the nerf people were asking for. And if you have been running the Energy Clip crafting loop to print coins, that is over now, too.

Il Toro Nerf: What Changed and Why

Embark’s dev note on this one is honest. They said the Il Toro was doing too much damage at too much range, especially when you slapped a choke on it, and that it was performing above its rarity tier at low upgrade levels.

They wanted it to feel like a weapon that rewards investment rather than one that just works out of the box for everyone. These are the actual stat changes:

StatOldNew
Pellet Damage7.57
Base Fire Rate4338
Base Dispersion4.56
Total Reload Time4.3s5.7s
Looping Reload Entry0.8s1s
Looping Reload Time0.5s0.7s
Damage Falloff Loss40%50%

That is seven separate changes touching every part of how the gun plays. Nothing was left alone.

What These Changes Actually Feel Like

The pellet damage drop from 7.5 to 7 sounds small, but across a full spread, it adds up. You will be needing an extra shell in fights where you were previously finishing cleanly in two shots. Annoying, but manageable.

The fire rate cut from 43 to 38 is where it starts to hurt. The Il Toro’s biggest strength in close-range fights was the ability to pump a follow-up shot fast enough that enemies barely had time to react. That window is now longer. If your first shot doesn’t do enough, you are sitting there waiting while someone rushes you or pushes back.

The dispersion going from 4.5 to 6 is the change that directly addresses the choke abuse complaint. The spread is wider at base now, which means that at anything beyond tight close quarters, you are going to see pellets missing even with a choke equipped. The mid-range Il Toro build that annoyed so many people is significantly weaker as a result.

The reload change is probably the most punishing of all in real gameplay. Going from a 4.3-second total reload to 5.7 seconds is a massive gap when you are empty mid-fight. If you fired your last shell and someone pushes you before you finish reloading, you are in serious trouble. This change alone will make Il Toro players much more careful about shot discipline and positioning rather than just firing freely and reloading on the fly.

Finally, the falloff increasing from 40% to 50% damage loss over distance finishes off the range argument entirely. The Il Toro was never supposed to be threatening at medium range. Now it genuinely is not.

Embark said they will continue to monitor this and make further adjustments if needed. Fair enough. But this is a heavy nerf package, and the Il Toro will need time before anyone can confidently say where it sits in the meta now.

Energy Clip Sell Price Dropped From 1000 to 200 Coins

This is the other change in Arc Raiders 1.20.0, and it is a simple one. Energy Clips used to sell for 1000 coins each. They now sell for 200 coins. That is an 80% cut.

Embark’s explanation is equally simple. Crafting Energy Clips had become too profitable by accident, and players were using it as a reliable way to generate a lot of coins without much risk. The selling price is being cut to bring it in line with what other crafts earn you.

If you built your in-game economy around buying materials cheaply, crafting Energy Clips, and selling them for a consistent profit, that loop no longer works the way it did. The margin is gone. You will need to rethink how you generate coins between raids, whether that means selling loot you extract, focusing on other crafts, or just being more efficient with what you bring in.

This kind of exploit fix is never popular with the people who were using it. Still, it was clearly unintended, and Embark caught it fairly quickly once the data showed how widely it was being abused.

Bug Fixes

Three bugs got patched in 1.20.0.

The audio glitch from destroyed Comets and Fireballs is fixed. The sound looped after the objects had already disappeared, which was genuinely confusing during raids.

The wall-push exploit in the Dam Controlled Access Zone is fixed. Players were getting pushed through a wall and getting stuck there, which could be used to avoid fights or hold unfair positions.

Two collision gaps on Spaceport are fixed. One near the east elevator and one under some pipes. Both let players clip into geometry they should not have been able to reach.

New Cosmetics

The update also adds a new Rawhide Outfit and two new haircuts. No gameplay impact, just new ways to customise your Raider before you head topside.

What This Means for Your Loadout

With the Il Toro taking this many hits at once, the Vulcano moves up as the clear shotgun choice for most players. It has better follow-up shot speed, lighter weight, and now a stronger case relative to the Il Toro in almost every scenario, except point-blank one-tap situations.

If you were running Il Toro as your close-range secondary next to a Renegade or Ferro primary, switching to Vulcano is the obvious move right now. At the same time, the community decides whether Il Toro is still worth investing in at higher upgrade levels.

The Energy Clip economy change means your coin generation strategy needs a rethink if it was built around that craft. Focus on clean extractions, sell what you loot, and keep your loadout costs sensible until a new efficient craft emerges or Embark adjusts something else.

How to Get the Update

Arc Raiders 1.20.0 is available now on all platforms. On PC, restart Steam or the Epic Games Store launcher. On console, restart the game and accept the update prompt. If it does not show up, fully close the game, restart your console or client, and relaunch. The patch is small and should download quickly on most connections.
