My Hero Academia Manga 394 revealed an amazing truth and secret about One For All.
Hey, what’s up, manga fans? I’m back with another review of My Hero Academia, the awesome series by Kohei Horikoshi. This time, I will talk about chapter 394, which was released last week. If you haven’t read it yet, be warned: spoilers will be ahead!
So, this chapter was a huge shocker for me. It revealed the true identity of the mysterious villain who has been behind the scenes of the Paranormal Liberation War: All For One’s brother, the original wielder of One For All! That’s right, the guy who started the whole quirk-passing legacy is actually alive and working with the bad guys. How crazy is that?
The chapter starts with a flashback to six years ago when All For One’s brother was rescued from Tartarus by a group of Nomu. He had been imprisoned there for decades, ever since he fought against his evil sibling and lost. He was kept alive by a life support system that also suppressed his quirk, preventing him from passing it on to anyone else. But when the Nomu broke him out, they also removed the device, allowing him to use his power again.
We then see him meeting with Tomura Shigaraki, the current leader of the League of Villains and All For One’s successor. He tells Shigaraki that he is his master’s brother and that he wants to join forces with him. He explains that he plans to destroy hero society and create a new world where everyone can use their quirks as they, please. He also reveals his secret weapon: a quirk that can erase other quirks!
This quirk is called Decay, and it’s the same one that Shigaraki has. But unlike Shigaraki, who can only disintegrate things he touches with all five fingers, All For One’s brother can do it with just one finger. And not only that, but he can also spread the decay to anything that is connected to his target, creating a chain reaction of destruction. He demonstrates this by decaying a whole city block in seconds.
Shigaraki is impressed by his power and agrees to work with him. He also accepts him as his new master, calling him Sensei. All For One’s brother then gives him a new name: Tenko Shimura, which was his real name before he was adopted by All For One. He says that he wants Shigaraki to reclaim his identity and his destiny as the true heir of One For All.
The chapter ends with a shocking twist: All For One’s brother reveals that he gave Shigaraki his Decay quirk when he was a child and is responsible for killing his family and triggering his trauma. He says that he did this to make Shigaraki hate heroes and society and to prepare him for his role as the ultimate villain. He also says that he has been manipulating Shigaraki’s memories and emotions ever since, using his One For All quirk to communicate with him through his dreams.

And that’s where the chapter ends! Wow, what a bombshell! I can’t believe that All For One’s brother is such a twisted and evil character. He makes All For One look like a saint in comparison. I wonder what his motivation is for doing all this. Does he really hate heroes and society that much? Or does he have some other agenda? And what will happen when he transfers One For All to Shigaraki? Will Deku be able to stop him? Or will he lose his quirk forever?
